Have you ever used a droplet? Droplets were fairly popular back in 2009 or so, but they still have some good use. You can use them to quickly batch process images or entire folders of images even without Photoshop open! Droplets are easy to share as well if you have a team all working on the same project. Check out this tutorial and start using droplets for yourself today! Image used in this tutorial: https://unsplash.com/photos/ScNzlHZejSU

HIDDEN PHOTOSHOP: Automate Cropping & Straightening Photos

Check out another of my videos: “BREAKDOWN: Select and Mask vs. Refine Edge – Photoshop CC”

The Crop and Straighten Photos feature is definitely one of those hidden features in Photoshop. It’s really useful if you have scanned images into your computer and you quickly need to extract them from the flatbed scanner image and automatically crop them down and straighten them out. This feature even works on “gang scanned” images. It’s pretty cool and definitely a time saver if you’re scanned anything from baseball cards to film photos that you just shot last weekend. Contact sheets are yet another way to quickly share a lot of your work with a client or potential client. This feature of Photoshop allows you to beautifully layout multiple images within one Photoshop document in literally seconds. You can use the PDF Conversion feature we talked about earlier this week to quickly convert those contact sheets to a PDF for easy delivery. Use this feature to become more consistent and beautiful across the board when delivering files to your clients! Image used in this tutorial: https://unsplash.com/photos/fn_BT9fwg_E

Check out another of my videos: “BREAKDOWN: Select and Mask vs. Refine Edge – Photoshop CC”

-~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

You can batch resize images to fit within a certain shape no matter if the images are in the landscape orientation or the portrait orientation. The “Fit Image” command is a great automation feature in Photoshop that works amazingly well with any action you’re creating in which you need to resize any image that you may run through that action.

In many photos, but particularly when you’re using very wide angle lenses, you will get barrel distortion, vignetting, and chromatic aberration among other “bad” things. Photoshop has number of ways to deal with this. In this tutorial, we’ll cover 3 different ways to correct lens distortion: Using the batch lens distortion correction, using the Adaptive Wide Angle filter, and using the automatic lens correction in the Camera RAW editor. Check out this tutorial for all the details!

-~-~~-~~~-~~-~-

One of the automate/batch features that I have been using in both Photoshop and Adobe Bridge is the “Image Processor”. If you’ve never used this tool, you’re really missing out. It’s got to be the best way to instantly convert a RAW image, a PSD, or any file to a JPEG, PSD, or TIFF file as well as resize it, apply any action you want to it and automatically save it. If you deal with more than one file in Photoshop at any given time, this tutorial is any absolute must!
