How to Make a Paper Cutout in Adobe Photoshop | Adobe Creative Cloud
Add a hand-crafted, layered look to your design.
Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://adobe.ly/2PGRTYn] for a head start. Steps below.
Prep your project:
1. Open paper-cut_start.psb.
2. Open the Layers panel (Window – Layers) and expand the fish layer group.
Add depth with drop shadows:
1. Add a drop shadow: Click the front fin layer, then click the fx icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. Choose Drop Shadow and set the shadow properties. Click OK.
Tip: We set the Angle to 133, enabled Use Global Light, and set the Distance to 35.
2. Copy drop shadow: Use Opt (Alt) + drag to copy the drop shadow properties to the body and wave 1 layers.
3. Double-click the drop shadow on the wave 1 layer and modify the properties. Click OK.
Tip: We set the Opacity to 60, Distance to 40, Spread to 15, and Size to 90.
4. Use Opt (Alt) + drag to copy the drop shadow from wave 1 to wave 2 and wave 3.
Add a paper texture:
1. Select the fish layer group. Click the Create new fill or adjustment layer icon at the bottom of the Layers panel. Choose Solid Color and choose a medium gray from the Color Picker. Click OK.
2. Choose Filter – Noise – Add Noise. Click Convert to Smart Object. Set the Amount to 20 and check Monochromatic. Click OK.
3. Choose Soft Light from the Blend Modes drop down at the top of the Layer panel.

How to Make a Spooky Self-Portrait with Adobe Photoshop Sketch | Adobe Creative Cloud
Take your portrait and make it scary.
Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://adobe.ly/2qiUQTb] for a head start. Steps below.
Prep your project:
1. Save the Adobe Stock image and Kyle’s brushes (.abr file) to the Creative Cloud Files folder on your computer.
TIP: Here’s[https://adobe.ly/2ICVMZq] a tutorial that shows other ways you can load Kyle’s brushes into Adobe Sketch.
2. Download the Adobe Photoshop Sketch mobile app from the App Store for iOS[https://apple.co/2nY72rW], or from the Play Store[https://adobe.ly/2zbsTB2] for Android. Open the app and sign in with your Adobe ID.
NOTE: Check the App Store and Play Store for the minimum OS requirements for running Adobe Photoshop Sketch on your mobile device.
Spookify a portrait:
1. Tap + to start a new project.
2. Choose a portrait-layout Format.
3. Load the portrait: Tap the Background layer, tap the + icon and choose Image Layer, tap My Files, choose the portrait from the practice files, or use your own. Tap Open. Tap Done.
4. Load Kyle’s brushes: Tap and hold one of the brushes to display additional brushes. Tap Add, tap Import from CC Assets, tap Kyle’s Inktober Brushes.abr, then tap Open to load the brushes.
NOTE: If you added the brushes to a library, choose it from the Libraries list.
5. Choose the brush settings: Tap the brush you want to use to select it. Tap the brush again to display additional options. Tap Size and drag up or down to adjust the brush size. Tap Color to change the brush color.
6. Paint the base colors: Tap the Sketch Layer. Paint on the parts of the portrait you want to enhance. Adjust the brush size as needed when painting different areas. Tap the slider icon below Color to explore Opacity and other brush settings.
NOTE: We chose a light yellow to paint the “mummy bandages”. You can choose colors from a color wheel, RGB palette, or Themes. These options are available at the top of the color palette.
7. Add details: Tap the + icon and add a new Sketch Layer. Change the brush to a small, dark tip. Brush in the outline of the self-portrait and the lines that define the bandages and other elements.
8. Experiment with the different brushes and settings and have fun adding more spooky details.

How to Make a Custom Brush with Adobe Capture CC | Adobe Creative Cloud
Create a brush from a simple sketch.
Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://learndownload.adobe.com/pub/learn/mobile-apps/make-a-custom-brush.zip] for a head start. Steps below.
Prep your project:
1. Save the practice image (source-image.jpg) provided here to the Camera Roll on your mobile device, or use your own.
2. Download the Adobe Capture CC mobile app from the App Store for your iOS device, or from the Play Store for you Android. Open the app and sign in with your Adobe ID.
3. Tap Brushes from the top menu.
Create a custom brush:
1. Tap Brushes from the menu.
2. Tap the image icon at the bottom, then tap Camera Roll.
3. Choose an image from your Camera Roll.
4. Tap areas to erase unwanted marks. Tap the checkmark.
5. Drag the resize handles (white dots) to position the blue box around the part of the image you want to use as the brush.
6. Tap Styles from the main menu.
Tip: For the example in the video, we chose a style in the Photoshop CC & Adobe Sketch Brushes section.
7. Tap Presets. Adjust the Size, Spacing, and other settings as you like. Tap Done, or the right arrow on Android devices.
8. Choose the appropriate Creative Cloud Library. Tap Save.
Apply style in Adobe Photoshop CC:
1. Open artwork in Photoshop.
2. Choose the Brush tool.
3. Choose your new brush from the Libraries panel (Window – Libraries).
4. Use the new brush to enhance your creation.
