How to Make Mezzotint Grain with Adobe Illustrator | Adobe Creative Cloud
Apply a grainy texture to give your drawing shades of light and dark.
Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://learndownload.adobe.com/pub/learn/illustrator/make-mezzotint-grain.zip] for a head start. Steps below.
1. Open your drawing, or use ours (make-mezzotint-grain_download.ai).
2. Choose the Selection Tool and select the moon in the artwork.
3. Open the Appearance panel (Window – Appearance). Click the Fill layer, then click Duplicate Selected Item at the bottom of the panel. Drag the new Fill layer above the Stroke layer.
4. Apply a gradient: Click the new Fill layer, then click the down arrow and choose the White, Black gradient swatch.
5. Adjust the gradient properties: Open the Gradient panel (Window – Gradient) and double-click the Black Gradient Slider below the gradient preview. Select a new color (e.g., red-orange) and set the Angle (e.g., 90 degrees).
Tip: Click the Swatches icon (grid) below the Color palette (easel icon) to show the color swatches.
6. Double-click the white Gradient Slider in the Gradient panel, change its Opacity to 0%.
7. Apply a grain effect: Choose the gradient Fill layer. Click the fx icon in the Appearance panel. Choose Texture, then Grain to adjust the grain in a new workspace. Increase the Intensity and Contrast and experiment with the Grain Types. Click OK.
Tip: We liked 75 for Intensity and Contrast and Enlarged for Grain Type.
8. Expand the gradient Fill layer. Click the Opacity label and select Multiply.
9. Reuse the new style: Choose Window – Graphic Styles. Click New Graphic Style to add the new grain effect. Click another part of the drawing and click the style you just added to apply the effect to another part of the drawing.

How to Make Magic with Gradients using Adobe Illustrator | Adobe Creative Cloud
Design complex gradients with ease.
Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://learndownload.adobe.com/pub/learn/illustrator/make-magic-with-gradients.zip] for a head start. Steps below.
1. Update to the latest version of Illustrator CC to use the Freeform Gradient feature.
2. Open your drawing, or use ours (make-gradient_download.ai).
3. Choose the Direct Selection Tool (A) and select a section of the bird.
4. Open the Gradient panel (Window – Gradient).
5. Choose the Freeform Gradient from the Type section.
Apply gradients with points:
1. Make sure Points is selected in the Gradient panel.
2. Double-click a color stop to open the color swatch and apply a new color.
Apply gradients with lines:
1. Use the Direct Selection Tool (A) to select a different section of the bird.
2. Choose the Freeform Gradient.
3. Choose Lines in the Gradient panel.
4. Click to add points to the path. Press Esc on your keyboard when you’re finished.
5. Double-click a color stop and add colors to different points along the path.
Use these methods to finish the composition.
Tips: Click on a color stop and drag to reposition it. Drag the circle on one of the color stops to change the spread of the gradient. Double-click to add color stops. Select a color stop and click the Delete Stop icon, or press the Delete key on your keyboard, to remove it.

How to Make a Hand-Drawn Logo with Adobe Capture and Adobe Illustrator | Adobe Creative Cloud
Convert your sketch to a vector logo.
Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://learndownload.adobe.com/pub/learn/creative-cloud/hand-drawn-logo.zip] for a head start. Steps below.
Prep your project:
1. Download the Adobe Capture CC mobile app from the App Store for your iOS device, or from the Play Store for you Android. Open the app and sign in with your Adobe ID.
2. Load the sketch into Capture:
a. Option 1: Adobe Capture opens with a live camera. Use this to take a picture of your sketch.
b. Option 2: To use the sketch we provided or an image of another sketch, save the image to your Camera Roll. Then, switch to Capture and tap the image icon at the bottom right of the screen, choose Camera Roll, and choose the image you would like to vectorize.
Note: If you are on an Android device, or an earlier version of iOS, the interface may be different. Make sure you are in the Shapes module and load the image you want to use.
Vectorize the sketch:
1. Use the slider to adjust the details shown in the sketch or tidy up any stray marks. Tap the checkmark when done.
2. Tap Crop, then drag the handles to isolate the image you want to use.
3. Tap Smooth, then tap On to smooth the lines of the sketch. Tap Save.
Give your sketch some personality:
1. Create a new file in Illustrator.
2. Open the Libraries pane (Window – Libraries) and drag the sketch from the library and place it in the new document.
3. Use the Selection Tool (V) to select it.
4. Choose the Puppet Warp Tool and click to add joints to the top of the leg and the knee. Drag to rotate at the knee so it looks like the character is kicking off from the skateboard.

How to Make a Modern Holiday Card with Adobe Illustrator | Adobe Creative Cloud
Combine art and typography to create a festive greeting.
Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://adobe.ly/2PEwUUA] for a head start. Steps below.
1. Update to the latest version of Illustrator CC and open a new Illustrator document (File – New).
Tip: The latest version of Illustrator includes Adobe Fonts (formerly Typekit). Adobe Fonts offers thousands of typefaces you can use in your creative projects.
2. Place your artwork, or use ours (make-holiday-card.ai). Choose File – Place then drag the graphics pointer over the portion of the document you want to cover with your design.
3. Choose the Rectangle tool and draw a rectangle over part of the drawing. Choose a Fill color for the rectangle while it’s selected.
4. Update text and color: Choose the Text tool, click on the rectangle, and change the text color from the Properties panel (Window – Properties). Replace the placeholder text.
5. Change the font and its properties: Highlight the text then click the Font drop-down list from the Character panel (Window – Type – Character). Choose Find More and select a font you like. Click the cloud icon to Activate the font so it syncs to your computer.
Tip: Update other character properties as you like. For example, adjust the Tracking to increase spacing between the letters.
6. Choose the Selection tool (V) and hold Shift+click to select the text and the rectangle. Then, choose Object – Group to group them together.
7. Blend the colors of the text & rectangle layer with the drawing layer. Go to the Properties panel, click the Opacity label, and choose a Blending Mode from the drop-down list. Experiment with the different blend modes to find the one you like. We chose Multiply.

How to Make a Custom Brush with Adobe Capture CC | Adobe Creative Cloud
Create a brush from a simple sketch.
Start from scratch, or download practice files [https://learndownload.adobe.com/pub/learn/mobile-apps/make-a-custom-brush.zip] for a head start. Steps below.
Prep your project:
1. Save the practice image (source-image.jpg) provided here to the Camera Roll on your mobile device, or use your own.
2. Download the Adobe Capture CC mobile app from the App Store for your iOS device, or from the Play Store for you Android. Open the app and sign in with your Adobe ID.
3. Tap Brushes from the top menu.
Create a custom brush:
1. Tap Brushes from the menu.
2. Tap the image icon at the bottom, then tap Camera Roll.
3. Choose an image from your Camera Roll.
4. Tap areas to erase unwanted marks. Tap the checkmark.
5. Drag the resize handles (white dots) to position the blue box around the part of the image you want to use as the brush.
6. Tap Styles from the main menu.
Tip: For the example in the video, we chose a style in the Photoshop CC & Adobe Sketch Brushes section.
7. Tap Presets. Adjust the Size, Spacing, and other settings as you like. Tap Done, or the right arrow on Android devices.
8. Choose the appropriate Creative Cloud Library. Tap Save.
Apply style in Adobe Photoshop CC:
1. Open artwork in Photoshop.
2. Choose the Brush tool.
3. Choose your new brush from the Libraries panel (Window – Libraries).
4. Use the new brush to enhance your creation.
